Utopia Arts online - Version 3
Unless its intention is to preserve and collate in one place an organisation's digital assets for no other reason than by an archivist for the archivist there must be a logic imposed and documented for the structure chosen for your public digital presence.
You will be judged on this presence.
For example if your site is a brochure or eShop and has a geographic presence customers visit the directions to you needs to be stupid-proof and stupid-proof from different angles! That obvious "Click Here for Finding Us Directions" button really is invisible to people who expect the "How to Find Us" drop down menu in the top navigation. There needs to be a decisive linear path but where alternatives can be integrated think seriously about including them or not.
What is this site for? I always discussed this with each client I work with, be it an individual artist, a collective, a company or institution.
I spent 4hrs with Fran and Graham to update my understanding to they do and what they have been doing to refresh the site to reflect what they want to achieve a presence online.
